# Teams

> Manage teams, invite members, and control access.

Teams are the organizational unit in InstaPods. Pods and billing are scoped to teams, not individual users.

## Your Teams

Navigate to **Teams** in the sidebar to see all teams you belong to. Every user has at least one team created at signup.

## Creating a Team

1. Go to the **Teams** page
2. Click **Create Team**
3. Enter a team name
4. Your new team is created and you become its owner

## Inviting Members

1. Go to your team's detail page
2. Click **Invite Member**
3. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite
4. They'll receive an email invitation with a link to join

Invitations can be managed (viewed and deleted) from the team detail page.

## Team Switching

If you belong to multiple teams, switch between them using the team switcher in the sidebar. The dashboard, pods, and billing all reflect the currently active team.

Switching applies to the browser you switch in. Your other logins - the CLI, the Claude connector, another browser - each keep their own team, so pointing the dashboard at another team never moves a deploy that's scripted somewhere else.

The CLI has its own switcher:

```bash theme={null}
instapods teams            # list your teams, * marks the one the CLI uses
instapods teams use acme   # point this CLI login at another team
```

`instapods teams` needs a CLI newer than v1.12.0. On an older CLI, run `instapods login` again and pick the team on the approval screen - see [CLI Authentication](/cli/authentication#teams).

An API token is the exception: it's bound to the team it was created for and can't be switched. Create a second token to automate against another team.

## Team Roles

| Role | Permissions |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Full access, manage members, billing, delete team |
| **Member** | Manage pods, view billing |

## Deleting a Team

Only the team owner can delete a team. All pods within the team must be deleted first.

<Warning>
  Deleting a team cancels the associated subscription and removes all member access.
</Warning>

You cannot delete - or leave - your last team. Every account needs one active team to sign in to, so
create another team first if you want to be rid of this one. To close the account altogether, use
[Account → Danger Zone](/dashboard/account-settings#deleting-your-account) instead.
